One of the most anticipated events in the smartphone industry, the CES, has just kicked off. There are going to be many more new exciting devices to be displayed at this event. It seems that 2015 is going to be much better than last year for the geeks. At the CES LG has officially unveiled the second generation of the G Flex. It is called the LG G Flex 2, obviously. And boy, does it look beautiful! The G Flex 2 is now half an inch shorter than its predecessor, the original G Flex. It sports a 5.5 inch curved P-OLED display which is protected by the Gorilla Glass Corning 3. LG has also made the protected glass 20 % tougher to keep the beautiful display safe. Although, the display is smaller than the G Flex but now it has a higher resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and this gives it a total pixel density of approx 403 ppi. The display is utter clear and bright. The curved feature allows experiencing the beautiful display of the G Flex 2 at a different level. But it is not of much use.
LG continues to carry forward its signature keys at the back of the device. The G Flex 2 gets the volume rockers and the power button at its back. These buttons are easily accessible by the index finger. The form factor of the G Flex 2 has been improved. The smaller display allows the device to fit in precisely in one hand. The curved display also aids to the overall ergonomics of the device. The back panel of the device is removable but the battery is still non user replaceable. All you get is a micro SIM slot and a micro SD card slot. The battery is a Li-Po 3000 mAh unit. The device weighs around 152 grams which is just about right for a device of its size. The back panel of the G Flex 2 gets much better self healing coating which heals up to 18 times faster than the G Flex. Minor scratches which make their way on the phones during everyday will disappear automatically.
The LG G Flex 2 is a beast when it comes to performance. At this moment it is the most powerful android device of the world. It gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex A53 and Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex A57 CPU. The graphics on this device is handled by the Adreno 430. The LG G Flex 2 will be available in two variants – a 16 GB variant which will have 2 GB of RAM and a 32 GB variant which will have 3 GB of RAM. Both the variants will get an expandable memory slot for micro SD card and will support up to 128 GB. The camera on the G Flex 2 is a 13MP unit which has got laser autofocus and optical image stabilization. It gets dual LED flash too. The image quality on the original G Flex was outstanding and we expect even better from the G Flex 2.The secondary camera on the G Flex 2 is a 2.1MP shooter which can record videos at 1080p @ 30fps. The LG G Flex 2 also gets an infrared port which will control televisions. It seems that the IR Blaster feature is becoming mandatory on flagship models.
The LG G Flex wasn’t the flagship model of the company but it definitely was something which the world hasn’t seen. LG is taking that concept one step further with the G Flex 2. The device has officially been unveiled and it will soon be launched. There are two colors of the G Flex 2 – platinum silver and flamenco red.
