Homs. A mutiny led by by army officer Safok Khalifa for refusing to fire against civilians in Homs ended-up in killing him and 35 soldiers in his unit. Khalifa comes from the Bou Saraya Tribe and so most of the soldiers. In addition, 20 civilians were killed yesterday from tank shelling but the real number is difficult to assess. A Video showing the damage from yesterday’s shelling. The cameraman and his friend make the comment that this building was bombed because the Israelis were hiding six of their jet fighters. Another says: “.. here they captured about 80 infiltrators”. Both comments to ridicule Assad for attacking his people instead of fighting Israel and for claiming infiltrators are behind the uprising.
Darfur in Slow Motion. The regime has refused entry to the UN Humanitarian Delegation for fear their massacres and torture will come to light to the outside world. Ban Ki Moon objected but unless the world community acts quickly, this tragedy in Syria is Darfur in slow motion.
Aleppo. This afternoon, tanks surrounded the University of Aleppo.
Detentions. The regime continues detaining people and the number has reached the 11,000 mark. This morning, they raided the town of Baida and it is expected that many will be detained.
Erdogan. Still thinks Assad is his friend and that he is delaying reforms. Playing both sides will burn him eventually in the Syrian street.
Khameini and Hezbollah’s Role. Syrians just started getting information on Khameini’s orders to Assad and Hezbollah to kill the Syrian people as “enemies of G*d” as he referred to them. Let’s see how Hamas and the MB can explain their alliance with Iran participating in sending tanks against unarmed civilians.
Latest Regime Statements. They have been working hard on delivering the message that the end is near in controlling the masses and their uprising. Not too far from the message that Assad delivered to WSJ as to the immunity of his regime to the Arab uprisings. Once again, tomorrow Syrians will prove him and his cabal wrong.
Asma al-Assad. The tear gas and the acrid smell of powder would spoil her shoe collection, so she left, with about 3,000 pairs of shoes, to London with her children to disconnect herself from her husband’s terror against his own people. Maybe Vogue would do a two-page spread entitled: Beauty Saves Animals by Saving her Shows.
