President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced on Wednesday that Iran has proposed that ceasefire be declared in Syria on Eid al-Adha in attempt to end bloodshed in the country.
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic holiday which starts on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah (October 26) and lasts several days.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has proposed that ceasefire be declared on Eid al-Adha and none of the sides should break the ceasefire,” Ahmadinejad told a group of journalists in Kuwait where he had taken part in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that the enemies are too weak to bring the vigilant nation of Iran to its knees with their demands at the negotiating table.
The Leader made the remarks during an address to a number of intellectuals and officials in Bojnourd, the capital city of the northeastern province of North Khorasan, on Tuesday.
Ayatollah Khamenei began an eight-day visit to North Khorasan Province on October 10.
In his speech, the Leader said that the Zionist regime and its Western allies have been conducting a propaganda campaign against Iran in regard to its nuclear program, adding, “In a conspiracy and a propagandistic move, they are constantly saying that the reason for the pressure on Iran is to compel the Islamic Republic to return to the negotiating table. But when did we leave the negotiating table in regard to various issues, including the nuclear (issue), to return now?
“The true objective of those who are following the formula of political propaganda is the surrender of the Iranian nation at the negotiating table. And we tell them, ‘You are too weak to bring the resilient, insightful, and vigilant nation of Iran to its knees with your demands.’ READMOREHERE
