After 7 years of the Muslim-raised president with the sealed records, Trump’s remarks today come as a breath of fresh air. His poll numbers shot up to over 42% in the aftermath of Friday’s Islamic terror attacks in France. This is exactly the type of thing that Ronald Reagan would be calling for if he were running today.
The NY Times today reported that Donald J. Trump issued another call for more scrutiny of mosques in the United States as fresh fears of terrorism, spurred by the attacks in Paris, dominated the presidential campaign conversation on Monday.
Mr. Trump, who said last month that he would be open to shutting down mosques as part of the fight against Islamic State militants, reiterated on Monday that the idea should be “studied.”
“I would hate it do it but it’s something that you’re going to have to strongly consider because some of the ideas and some of the hatred, the absolute hatred, is coming from these areas,” Mr. Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program.
The liberal argument against closing of the mosques is that it would be a “constitutional violation” because it would impinge on freedom of religion. What do you think? Is the closing down of mosques that are suspected of being terrorist sleeper cells a violation of freedom of religion, or is it a common sense precaution to keep the American people safe?
As for me personally, I agree that mosques, a hotbed of Islamic terror training and recruitment, should be highly scrutinized and shut down if there is a reasonable suspicion that it could be planning terror attacks. Only an idiot or a liberal would think otherwise.
Comment below and let me hear what you think about it.
