(Before It's News)

All is well on the gold front. At least for today. Comex gold futures hit a two-week high this morning in U.S. trading thanks to a lower dollar and high physical demand elsewhere in the world. Gold is trading at $1,453.30 an ounce which is, up over $20 from yesterday and significantly up from April 15th, where is plummeted to lower than $1,400 an ounce.

It is also worth mentioning that U.S. Mint sales of gold coins are also doing well, hitting a three-year high of 196,500 ounces. To put this in perspective, sales in March were 62,000 ounces. If you’re thinking about purchasing gold coins, a one ounce, 22-karat American Eagle coin is selling for $1,760. A half-ounce coin is $895 while a quarter-ounce coin is $460.
