An article just published in the Lancet suggests that calcium supplementation with or without Vitamin D supplementation reduces the risk of bone fracture in people aged over 50 by 12%.
Hmmm…if the results showed this as an average and included calcium on its own then the benefits from a ‘proper’ calcium supplement would be much higher!
For example…it is well known the absorption of calcium is nowhere near as good if it does not have Vitamin D present, so the average result would have been lowered if it factored in those supplements that did not have Vitamin D.
Then, there is the issue of magnesium which should be present in a calcium supplement…this will help further. How about Boron? Is has been proved conclusively that boron is essential as a co-factor to enable the bones to take up calcium! But…boron is not the only co-factor. Strontium is an important co-factor in enabling better calcium absorption. And…we mustn’t forget about Vitamin K2 which is also essential for helping the calcium do its job.
More evidence is also emerging that Lycopene is another important co-factor.
So, the point that I am trying to make here is that there is ample evidence to suggest that using the right combination of ingredients can improve the overall results much more dramatically that the amount that these researchers found. We have ALL these co-factors in our Bone-Protec and some more as well!
Also, don’t forget that another important part about bone health is that you must try not to LOSE calcium from your bones due to a lack of various nutrients. This is just as important as having enough calcium intake! Total Balance is perfect for helping prevent bone loss which is why we often get reports of customers improving their bone density even without calcium supplements. The two products can be taken together and then you can really cover all aspects of bone health.
