(Before It's News)

Body Odor is a normal phenomena which varies in degree from person to person. Excessive or unpleasant body odor can be a source of great discomfort to others and a source of extreme embarrassment to the concerned individual.  If you are plagued with strong body odor, there is no need to throw your arms up in despair. There are plenty of  body odor remedies available to both men and women. While many of use deodorants and sprays to minimize the presence of body odor, these methods are not always very effective, and don’t really solve the problem. They can simply help mask it to some extent. It is important to understand what causes body odor as this will help to prevent body odor from becoming a problem. There are a lot of misconceptions that people have when it comes to body odor, and a common belief is that perspiration is the cause and source of the foul smell. Sweat in reality however is odorless. Body odor is caused by the activity of bacteria on sweat.

Adjusting Your Diet

Some people believe that odor has a direct correlation with diet. Excess fat (primarily form animal sources) in the diet is believed to cause excess odor. Essentially, this is the primary reason why so many of us have unpleasant odor. Minimizing our intake of animal fats, nuts, seeds, avocados, and oils will be sure to clear up any odor concerns. It may take some time and other dietary changes before you notice any real change as we have to allow our body time to detox, but we can assure you that you should see some improvement sometimes within just a few days. It is important to get adequate amounts of fat in your diet, so don’t take this advice to literal- ensure that you are least getting some form of fat daily – just reduce your intake. It is also believed that with the increase of animal husbandry in early Europe, there was a parallel increase in perfume sales. The belief is that with the increased consumption of animal based foods, came an ever growing need for perfume to cover up the “surprising” rise societies odor problems. Coincidence? You be the judge. If you suffer from excessive body odor, try decreasing your fat consumption and see if you have experienced any improvement. As a whole, we want to try to “lighten” our diet to one that consists primarily of fresh, raw, fruits, vegetables. We, personally, had some great success with this!

Natural Remedies

In the meantime, for those of us who are looking for healthier, safer alternatives to deodorant, antiperspirant or sprays, Kyla and I have provided you with some options below:

Baking Soda: Baking soda is an excellent remedy for controlling both sweat and smell particularly under ones arms. Apply some baking soda first thing in the morning under your arms or other problem areas and you will notice that it will not only keep you dry, but it will keep any odors at bay. Alternatively, one can use apple cider vinegar. Given the alkalinity of both baking soda and apple cider vinegar, they help neutralize the acidity (smell).

Minerals: Given that body odor seems to be correlated directly with acidity, it is important to infuse the body with minerals. First, you may rub some high quality full spectrum salt (i.e. Himalayan or Celtic Sea salt) on areas with an odor problem; let sit for 2-3 minutes, followed directly by a shower. Second, Natural deodorants that are fragrance free without perfume and are 100% made of natural minerals or crystal is another approach to take. Apply a natural deodorant every day and in about a week or so your odor will most likely go away! Third, many people have had some positive experiences with zinc supplementation. Take at least 50 mg daily to experience its positive effects.

    False and laughable

  • No, this is definitely NOT FALSE and not laughable. Who do you work for, the companies who have a monopoly on anti-perspirants and deordorants, who then profit from the cancer they create?

No, I work for the Pharmaceuticals and I am anti-natural health. Where is the profit in this?

Piercing the Veil, More Drug Companies Reveal Payments to Doctors
“For the first time, all these companies have reported a full year of payments, allowing for head-to-head comparisons of how much they spent on physicians to help push their pills. Some appear to be paring back.”
