Diners of the high-end Restaurant Alta in Manhattan, may have possibly been infected with Hepatitis A from an infected food handler. It is believed a pastry chef had contacted the virus while traveling in Mexico. The Health Department is urging anyone who ate at the restaurant between March 23 and April 2 to get a Hepatitis A vaccination just in case. It is also recommended that if people experience symptoms, they should see a doctor immediately. Alta’s owners are trying to contact the 3,000 people who may have eaten at their establishment during that time period.
