This week marks the passage of a $1 trillion dollar Farm Bill that made it through the Senate with a 68 to 32 vote, but there’s one glaring caveat they are hoping you won’t notice. The bill has been stalled for far too long, and many were excited to see it go through with our government’s iron-grip on agriculture. The unwieldy and bulky bill in its most recent version has some causes to celebrate within it – including GMO labeling, crop insurance for farmers, and consumer access to locally sourced foods, but Capital Hill has its ways, and they are more clever than a Cheshire cat at getting their two cents in – even though it costs them millions.
The deceitful tactics of our elected (nay, appointed) officials is evidenced by an $8 billion dollar cut in food stamps and a hearty serving of fluoride for our children. Thanks to a recently added amendment (Section 10015), snuck into the bill just 48 hours prior to its vote, Dow AgroScience lobbyists were able to overturn an EPA ruling that pesticide residues must be included in calculations of safe levels of fluoride exposure.
Fluoride Dangers
Fluoride residue exposure has already proven to damage kid’s brain cells, and has even been linked to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. But wait – Dow wants to put more of it in our food. Harvard scientists proved that fluoride is linked to lower IQ scores, and Israel has banned its use in water supplies altogether. So while Americans think they are about to eat safe food, they will be consuming brain-sucking chemicals.
Even the EPA scientists once warned about the toxicity of fluoride back in 1999. The National Research Council of the National Academies of Science did the same in 2006. Even the US Department of Health and Human Services eventually admitted in 2009 that fluoride levels in public water should be reduced. So, what’s so different about fluoride now – perhaps they all think that after over a decade of poisoning us all, we’ll all step in line like a bunch of gutless zombies.
Fluoride has an acute toxic rate which is higher even than lead.
“According to “Clinical Toxicology of Commercial products,” 5th Edition, 1984, lead is given a toxicity rating of 3 to 4, and Fluoride is rated at 4 (3 = moderately toxic, 4 = very toxic). OnDecember 7, 1992, the new EPA Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for lead was set at 0.015 ppm, with a goal of 0.0ppm. The MCL for fluoride is currently set for 4.0 ppm – that’s over 250 times the permissible level of lead.”
Fluoride also calcifies the pineal gland, an important endocrine gland which secretes melatonin, and the pre-cursor to N-Dimethyltryptamine or DMT.

Victories in the Bill
But while they are still trying to poison us all, we did manage some victories, including:
While these are definite wins for the food sovereignty and non-GMO food movements, and a huge support for the small farm, which just might be our ticket out of the industrial agricultural paradigm we so foolishly signed up for, we have to remain stalwart in keeping special interests from exposing our next generation to fluoride. U.S. National Research Council Scientists even suggested that small doses of fluoride are harmful to the brain and bones, and this is exactly why Dow wanted to undue the FDA ruling that keeps the toxin in check.
Reducing Fluoride Exposure – 11 Tips
Activists need to stay active, and those of you who haven’t heard of the toxic ramifications of fluoride, please read up on it. Educate yourself and your friends and family. Sulfuryl fluoride is a known neuor-toxin and it was an 8-year battle to have it regulated in the first place. That has all been undone with one little Senate vote.
The documentary An Inconvenient Truth explains why this is a big deal. Not every country fluoridates their water supply; it is highly unnecessary. You can also defluoridate your municipal water supply considerably while we are all working to overturn this reprehensible amendment and follow the following eleven tips to reduce fluoride exposure:
