FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- We don’t know much about 74-year-old James Beavers. Only that he served our country during the Vietnam war. For three weeks the coroner’s office worked to find any known relatives. Since no one has stepped up D.O. McComb & Sons will provide funeral services and burial.
Beavers died on Nov. 23. but it wasn’t until Nov. 27 that a neighbor found his lifeless body in the apartment. James was a disabled Vietnam War Veteran, who held the rank of Private in the U.S. Army.
Newschannel 15 spoke with that neighbor. She said she knew him well. She described Beavers as a very private person. He was an orphan, originally from Marion, Ind. He was never married and never had children. She’s glad that the funeral home is stepping up to give him a proper burial.
Services will be at 2:00pm Thursday, December 17th at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Chapel, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Everyone is welcome to attend and pay their respect at a viewing from noon until 2:00 p.m.
Following the funeral will be a burial with full military honors will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
“We don’t know how many people will come but I would encourage them to come,” said David McComb, President of McComb & Sons. “This gives a way to not only honor Mr. Beavers but other people POW and MIA people. I think it’s a great way to honor them.”
D.O. McComb & Sons is asking anyone who wants to donate money instead donate money to any military charity in James Beavers’ honor.
