(Before It's News)

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) is no longer in its phase of research and has accelerated towards becoming an aspect of big agricultural businesses. Organic food, like we used to know, is no longer considered normal and is slowly becoming a thing of the past. According to the definition by United Nations, GMO means organisms that have been genetically altered to possess certain properties that do not occur naturally. This can be said to be a way of manipulating life’s building block in exchange for something more profitable and useful related to the production of food. But is this the only reality?

The Western mainstream media tend to avoid international findings on the safety of GMOs, which may be due to political and social influences. People in many countries have put up a fierce resistance against genetically altered foodstuff, but it is only recently that the North American people are learning that GMOs are highly unfit to be consumed by humans. This food also poses environmental risks that are hard to ignore despite attempts of a cover-up by the mainstream media. The major Western health organizations have declared that GMOs are completely safe for consumption, but scientific studies conducted in various parts of the world speak the contrary rather. This is the reason dozens of countries have banned the import of genetically modified food from other countries.

Norwegian Study Shows False Claims of GMO Industry

Norwegian Biotechnology Advisory Board (NBAB) was commissioned by the Norwegian government to develop a document of guidance by Norwegian Gene Technology Act, to study the sustainability of plans that are genetically modified and tolerant to herbicides. This report had examined a dossier submitted by Monsanto to the Brazilian government, which stated how the research conducted was flawed and had a tremendous lack of convincing data. This study also revealed a plethora of other concerns related to genetically altered Roundup Ready 2 Pro soybeans to eventually conclude that the scientific method used to carry out crop cultivation was inadequate. Some of the highlights of this report were incomplete information, methodological weaknesses, and lack of research in the science behind GMOs.

First Confirmted Case of a GMO Caused Death

Recently, a shocking incident came into limelight about the death of Juan Pedro Ramos, a 31-year-old Spanish man, who died of eating genetically modified tomatoes. This surprising announcement came after the autopsy after Juan died at the Madrid hospital in the beginning days of January. In the autopsy report, it was revealed that health of this young man had deteriorated rapidly after he suffered a devastating allergic reaction on which the drugs failed to have any effect whatsoever. The reason behind this violent allergic reaction was caused by the tomatoes that he had ingested along with bacon and lettuce, at lunchtime. Soon after finishing lunch, the symptoms started to manifest and took form of acute swelling of his throat, itchy rash throughout the body, and a dramatic drop in blood pressure. This man quickly injected some epinephrine to combat the allergic reaction, but his health continued to deteriorate.

Juan was immediately transported to the nearby hospital by his co-workers, but the cause of this violent allergic reaction seemed to elude the medical staff, and none of the usual treatments appeared to be of any use. He died over just an hour after he was brought to the hospital, leaving the forensic experts and medical examiners at Carlos III hospital no choice but to send his body for autopsy to find out the cause of death. Needless to say, the examiners were astonished to find out that tomato sliced with fish related allergens was behind dangerous allergic reaction that cost Mr. Ramos his life. This is the first case of human death that has been officially confirmed to be linked to consumption of genetically altered food.

This incident serves as an eye-opener to people who blindly follow the mainstream media propagating news that all types of GMO products available on the market are safe to eat. The death of Mr. Ramos had forced the Spanish Ministry of health to seize more than 7000 tons of tomatoes that came from Portugal. WikiLeaks even revealed that the State Department of North America was lobbying across the world for Monsanto and other similar biotech corporations. What fate holds for the future of GMO and our health, only time will tell.

What do you think? Are GMO’s safe as they say they are?
