    Parity is not free market, but it has some humanitarian elements.

    Ideally, parity involves the govt subsidizing the material needs of the people, rather than agents of population control and artificial scarcity.

    But, parity expects excess production.

    You have the opposite kind of food emergency, in which surplus matériel benefits the undeserving, leading to societal collapse.

    Fiat currencies fluctuate.
