Supporters of autodefensas managed to enter city hall, demanding the resignation of mayor Uriel Chavez.
While singing the Mexican national anthem, the people of Apatzingán, Michoacán, autodefensas supporters, managed to enter the city hall, and called out for the mayor, who is the nephew of maximum Caballeros Templarios leader known as “el Chayo”..
Federal police escorted Chavez out of Apatzingán.
The action was observed by members of the Federal Police , in order to avoid a disturbance. People of the Chavez administration began exiting the corridors and the building of the mayor’s office, although a group of employees remained and continued their work.
Before the uprising, many city hall employees urged atuodefensas to oust the “Templarios Mayor”. They report that Chavez charges all employees a narco tax.
The federal agents verified that all persons entered city hall unarmed.
