Opera in the meat market? Opera in the meat market! Members of the Greek National Opera will sing arias from several famous operas on Sunday evening at the meat & vegetables market “Varvakeio” in the middle of Athens historical centre. The performance will take place at 8 o’clock in the evening on November 4th 2012, and is free of charge.
Τhe idea to organize such an original event came from Atenistas, a civic society group struggling to revive the historical centre of Athens.
The Greek National Opera frequently organizes events in public places in order to bring the genre closer to the people and thus in times of austerity and economic depression.
A different musical performance in a completely unexpected place? Yes, we go!
