Every month I write the same title to posts referring to unemployment in Greece. According to Greek Statistics Authority (ELSTAT) data released today, unemployment reached 26.8% in October with the number of people without job being 1,345,715. More than 36,000 people lost their job within one month.
In comparison unemployment was 26.2% in September 2012 and 19.7% in October 2012. Within this one year, the number of unemployed increased by 368,102.
Unemployment among youth aged 15-24 years old is 56.6%, while among those 25-34 years old is 34.1%.

Men 24.1%
Among the country’s regions and prefectures for the first time Attica (Athens and broader area) leads with 28.3% followed by Epirus-Western Macedonia with 28.2%.
ELSTAT unemployment statistics refer only to employees and not to self-employeed, part-timers and other sectors.
