Editor’s Note: In full disclosure, WTF News has posted credible information from Russia Today in the past, and hopes to be able to do so in the future.
There has been more propaganda and rhetoric than actual conflict during the Ukraine crisis. Friday provided more of both in the form of Russian troops breaking down the gates of a Ukrainian Air Force base near Sevastopol.
Haaretz citing Reuters, AP Russian troops on Friday attacked a Ukranian military base 5 kilometers from the Ukranian city Sevastopol, located on the Black Sea coast of the Crimean peninsula. No shots have been fired. According to early reports, members of a pro-Russia militia used a truck to break though the gate of the base. The truck got stuck at the gate, and Russia soldiers climbed over it. Some 70 Ukrainian troops were said to still be holding out in the bunkers. Russians troops who broke through the perimeter demanded the Ukrainian soldiers surrender. A Ukrainian military official, Vladislav Seleznyov, told Reuters by telephone that the armed men took over the base without any shooting and that no one was hurt. Another Ukrainian official told Reuters at the post that he was now mediating between the Ukrainian forces and the armed group inside, and that no arms had been seized.
The Russians supposedly left the base quickly, leaving it to the Ukrainians.

The events in Sevastopol went curiously unreported by Russia Today although other major outlets followed up on a report from Interfax. The state-run media outlet’s omission comes just one day after the mainstream media frenzy caused by RT anchor Liz Wahl quitting while live on the air over the network “whitewashing” the actions of Putin. So much for that whole independent media thing. The government funded past of Russia Today is summarized here.
To be fair, the following list were absent at the time of this post:
ABC, NBC, CBS
CNN
Fox News
MSNBC
NYTimes
CIA shops Wash Times, Post
Probably more…

Get a job.
Neanderthal, your comment has no basis in truth. You have no research or facts to back up YOUR CLAIMS. You are no more believable than the next guy.
