(Before It's News)

Greek Finance Ministry is allegedly to tax with 26% the jobless who participated in so-called “subsidized programs” by the Employment Agency. Some news websites report today, that the jobless who participated in these programs will be considered as “self-employed” and will be taxed accordingly with 26% plus tax in advance for next year. This taxation class will activate also the so-called “deemed income criteria” and so the lucky jobless who earned up to 2,500 euro in 2013 may have the bag luck and being called to pay more than 1,200 euro in taxes!

The “subsidized programs” organized by Greek Employment Agency (OAED) refer to educational program up to 6 weeks or to combination of education and work up to 5 months. Monthly earning at maximal 500 euro.

If the jobless earned 2,500 euro in 2013 and the deemed income criteria of 3,000 euro will be activated, the total amount of actual and fictional income will be 5,500 euro. The tax of 26% for self-employed will be charged.

“The finance ministry needs ot find a solution to this problem that degrades all subsidized programs,” notes news website dikaiologitika.gr that brought up the issue.

PS I don’t know if it is true, but if it is, it is certainly a scandal!
