Summary: The early disciples understood the abomination cited by Christ to mean military, but it may also mean Rome that brought the military. A double application can also be made to the US, a Christian nation, as well as for Jerusalem where it originally applied. We’ve seen the military “standing where it ought not,” in the US with JADE HELM just ending and this week the pope is “standing where he ought not,–in the US Congress.
The disciples asked about the end of the world. After wars, famines, earthquakes and pestilences that have existed from the beginning of time, Christ gave the most specific sign and it has an application this week. He said, “When you see the abomination that makes desolate” (spoken of by Daniel) flee. Matthew 24:15. Mark 13:14 says, When you see it “standing where it ought not…flee.”
The early believers were obedient to Christ and fled the city. Doing so when the Roman General, Cestius, surrounded Jerusalem in 66 AD, but unexpectedly withdrew. Fleeing spared the Christians from the siege by Titus 3 ½ years later. It is very possible that Rome’s visit this week is like 66 AD, with a New World Order [Novus Ordo Seclorum on our $1 bill] coming soon after a civil war…
The Jews fell on the retreating Romans in 66 AD, hardening them in the believe that God was with them, but it was not so in 70 AD. We may expect civil war over issues like gun control and other UN agendas used by the papacy to gain control of America through a police state. How could this be?
Freedom cannot exist in Catholicism. It teaches that “no man is free to embrace and profess that religion which, guided by the light of reason, he shall consider true.” The Syllabus of Errors issued by Pope Pius IX, “condemns freedom of religion, conscience, speech, press, as it asserts the pope’s temporal authority over all civil rulers.” Rome downplays this for public relations, but the Syllabus of Errors is part of the ordination vows for priests worldwide. https://news4living.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/the-popes-visit-to-congress/
Christ’s warning for end-times also applied to Jerusalem and when He said, “Not one stone of the temple shall be on another,” it makes possible an end-time application for Jerusalem, also seen in Zechariah 14:1-5. And just as Jewish civil year preceded the religious years by six months, it’s possible that next spring we could see the Jerusalem component of “the abomination standing where it ought not” with a Third Intifada and tragedy for the city’s inhabitants.
Perhaps it’s necessary for Jewish hardness of heart before it is seen than Yehshua’s words would have spared them in 70 AD and again now. They should be open to aliyah (return) of Christians as the 10 tribes that were scattered among the nations, but also Abraham’s seed as the apostle Paul said in Galatians 3:29.
Why should Christians want to go there? This is addressed in another short article at /international/2015/09/the-case-for-modified-zionism-2487810.html
