(Before It's News)

It is patently clear today that Ukraine’s authorities pursue totally amateurish policy leading the country to a deadlock which will be very hard and painful for the Ukrainian people to get out of. They failed every initiative. Corruption thrives despite all the loud statements of victory over it. Not a single reform has been carried out successfully. Hundreds of thousands of people live below poverty line. Armed gangs use the fight against separatism to put pressure on small and mid-size businesses. The money allocated by the EU and the IMF disappears without a trace. President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Yatsenyuk have been engrossed so heavily in back-door struggle for resources made available to them after the revolutionary change of power that they failed to notice how those who had brought them to power had set their minds against them. And it is not about the armed groups of neo-Nazis whom neither the Army nor the Government can control. Political allies who constitute the backbone of the revolution have been throwing in the cards to preserve what has been left of their reputation.

Presidents Juncker, Schulz and Tusk should take rather seriously the initiative put forward by a group of Ukrainian politicians. Obviously, they represent the larger part of Ukrainian society and are a real alternative to the current dysfunctional team headed by Poroshenko. To ignore their plead for assistance now means to lose a staunch ally in the future, and Europe is currently in no position to do that.
