(Before It's News)

NIAC is teaming up with organizations around the country to urge Americans to mark today’s solemn anniversary by calling their elected officials and telling them to stand up against war with Iran.

Bush warDo you remember where you were ten years ago today, when President Bush went on TV to announce the beginning of the Iraq war?

An agonizing decade followed. Over 4,000 Americans and 100,000 Iraqis died, and the nation suffered vast economic and geopolitical damage.

But as we mark the solemn anniversary of one preventable war, Congress is talking about the next disasterous war of choice–with Iran.

A measure (S.Res.65) is moving rapidly through the Senate that would call for the U.S. to commit to war if Israel decides to strike Iran.

NetanyahuUnder such a scenario, it would be Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who decides and announces that the U.S. is going to war with Iran.

Meanwhile, the House is pushing for even more broad sanctions (H.R.850) that threaten to unravel new negotiations and–as we saw with the Iraq sanctions–punish innocent people, empower an undemocratic regime, and lock us into war.

We must stop the next Iraq war before it starts. That’s why NIAC is teaming up with organizations around the country to urge Americans to mark today’s solemn anniversary by calling their elected officials and telling them to stand up against war with Iran.

  2. Once connected, tell the office staffer: “I am marking the 10 year anniversary of the Iraq war disaster by calling on my elected officials to stand up against war with Iran.
