The heat has been rising on Iran regarding its nuclear dossier and talks with the West over a possible agreement. US State Department spokesman Jeff Rothke has said America is not seeking to extend talks with Iran after the June 30 deadline. These remarks come in response to those made by Iranian deputy foreign minister Abbas Araqchi who tried to deceive the international community by saying if the talks don’t reach a conclusion until the June 30th deadline, they might actually be extended even longer. We are not bound to a time limit, he added, saying in fact we are bound to this issue that we need to reach an agreement with all the desired details, however much time it may need.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius also added his opinion on this matter in a National Assembly session saying France will disagree with the nuclear deal if Iran does not allow inspections on its military sites.

Any deal with Iran must include verification of all sites, including military sites, he insisted. Otherwise the nuclear deal will not be agreed to by France, Fabius concluded.

Furthermore, IAEA chief Yukiya Amano stipulated in the final nuclear agreement with Iran the IAEA has the right to inspect all of the regime’s military sites.

Defining the exact nature of Iran’s nuclear program will need months of work, Amano said to AFP and Le Monde.

Iran is currently not implementing the NPT Additional Protocol. However, if an agreement is reached the agency will carry out the same measures on Iran that has been carried out on other countries.

According to the joint declaration signed in Lausanne, Iran’s nuclear plans must be controlled by international organizations to remain certain of its civilian nature. If Iran wants to have its sanctions relieved, it must remain loyal to its commitments.

IAEA officials are more than anything demanding to enter the Parchin military sites in eastern Tehran. It is said that this site is where Iran has tested nuclear warheads. Although these are considered conventional weapons, they can also be used in nuclear payloads.
