On November 25 International Day for the Elimination of violence Against Women
November 25 recalls the day in 1960 three sisters revolutionary “Mirabel” known as the Patent unforgettable، after the defeat of the anti-dictatorship movement in Dominican Republic Latin America on July 14, on their return from prison were killed in the way by government officials in the mountains.
Women’s rights activists after the killing of the three women ،recognized (25 November) of 1981 as a day Elimination of violence Against Women.
This day commemorates the terrible assassination of the Mirabal sisters،
Suggested naming 25 November as International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women as well as by representatives of Dominicans to the United Nations and was accepted in 1999.
