DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. August 17, 2015, 3:52 PM (IDT)

There has been a large explosion in a shrine in the centre of the Thai capital, Bangkok.
Local TV has initially reported twelve dead and 20 injured and quoted police as saying it was caused by a bomb.
The incident took place at Ratchaprasong, which is the name of an intersection and shopping centre in the Pathum Wan district of Bankok.
One of its major attractions is the Erawan shrine, which is attracting more tourists than any other temple in the city.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
