DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. August 23, 2015, 9:17 AM (IDT)
Four years after Iranian rioters burned and ransacked the British embassy in Iran, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond is in Tehran Sunday to reopen it, thus marking the thaw in Western relations since the signing of the nuclear deal with Iran last month. Iran reopens its embassy in London at the same time. Accompanying Hammond is a small group of business leaders, including representatives from Royal Dutch Shell, Energy and mining services company Amec Foster Wheeler and Scottish industrial engineering firm Weir Group. Britain joins Germany and France in the race of business ties with Iran in the wake of the lifting of sanctions.
Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
