(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. August 12, 2015, 3:47 PM (IDT)

The ISIS affiliate, the Sinai Province, released a photo Wednesday showing the “execution” of 30-year old Croatian hostage Tomislav Salopek, who was taken hostage outside Cairo on July 22. A father of two, Salopek worked for the French oil and gas company CGG Ardiseis. The caption in Arabic read that he was killed “for his country's participation in the war against the Islamic State.” He was the first foreigner to be abducted, threatened and murdered by the ISIS affiliate. The group initially threatened to kill him in 48 hours if Egypt did not release “Muslim women” from prison.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
