ISIS destroys ancient Syrian Christian monastery

The Islamic State has demolished the 1,500-year old Mar Elian monastery in the central Syrian town of al-Qaryatain and taken more than 100 Christian captives to their stronghold of Raqqa, after bulldozing the ancient building. The town was captured two weeks ago. The fate of 230 people kidnapped there is unknown.
