An American military spokesman in Kabul announced Tuesday night that a member of the US special forces was killed and two were wounded in an operation in southern Afghanistan. The details of the operation in the area of Marja in Helmand province have not been released. Joint forces from the US and Afghan militaries are fighting the Taliban that is trying to capture the province bordering Pakistan from the Afghan government.
