(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. February 16, 2016, 3:41 PM (IDT)

Fighters from the Kurdish YPG militia on Tuesday captured the town of Tel Rifaat, located in Syria's Idlib province near the Turkish border. The move came despite threats from Ankara that it would launch a military operation within Syria if the Kurds continue to advance.
DEBKAfile's military sources: Turkey is making empty threats and has no intention to launch such an operation. It also has no intention to establish a ground force consisting of troops from Islamic countries to depose Syrian President Bashar Assad, which it has proposed, or to invade Syria.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
