(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. February 15, 2016, 8:42 AM (IDT)

Ehud Olmert began his 19 months in jail Monday with a recorded statement: “Life has presented me with a tough ordeal. I accept it, but absolutely refute any charge of corruption. I made mistakes but they were not criminal. For a part of them I am paying a heavy price, perhaps too heavy. With a heavy heart I accept this judgment. No man is above the law.”
Olmert is the first former Israeli prime minister to go to prison. The main part of his sentence was served on him for graft while serving in public office prior to his term as prime minister, This chartge he has consistently denied.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
