(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. March 19, 2016, 5:54 PM (IDT)

The Foreign Ministry spokesman in Jerusalem Emmanuel Nahshon confirmed that 11 Israelis were injured in the Istanbul suicide blast Saturday, were treated in four hospitals and three were in dangerous condition. Another 6 Israeli tourists are missing. He did not confirm any deaths. Magen David ambulance flights fly to Istanbul to transport the victims home. The blast occurred shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday just off Istiklal Caddesi, Istanbul’s main pedestrian shopping street, which stretches south from Taksim Square. At least five people were killed in the explosion and 36 injured, many of them foreign nationals, including the members of an organized Israeli group on a four-day culinary tour of Turkey.

The FM spokesman praised the cooperation of Turkish authorities with Israeli diplomats in what he called an extremely serious incident..

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
