DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. April 18, 2016, 11:29 AM (IDT)
The IDF announced Monday that it had discovered an over two-kilometer-long concrete tunnel that had been dug from Khan Younis into an Israeli community adjacent to southern Gaza, and that IDF bulldozers entered Gaza over the weekend and destroyed the tunnel. Foreign sources reported that the approximately 30-meter-deep tunnel was discovered near Kibbutz Sufa using new IDF technology capable of locating empty spaces in the ground.
According to findings by the IDF Southern Command, Hamas is investing a large amount of resources to boost its operational abilities, with nearly 1,000 diggers, technical staff and others in its “tunnel command”.
Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
