IDF Patriot fails to intercept unidentified drone over Golan

Israeli Patriot missile fire triggered an alert on the Golan and Galilee when it tried to down an unidentified drone from Syria which had crossed into Israel airspace. IAF jets and helicopters were also scrambled but like the missile failed to intercept the trespasser. Falling shrapnel from the Patriot missile which slightly injured a girl at Ayelet Hashachar indicated that the drone had been sighted over Galilee as well. Nonetheless, the homeland security sirens in that part of he border region did not operate automatically and were activated on the initiative of by local security officers.
