DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. July 28, 2016, 4:51 PM (IDT)
During a press conference in Berlin on Thursday morning, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said her country's open-door policy regarding Muslim refugees from the Middle East would not change and that Germany would continue to take them in. She called the recent terrorist attacks in her country and elsewhere in Europe “shocking, depressing and terrifying” and announced that from now on Germany will assume a tougher stance and deport migrants whose requests for citizenship were rejected. She also said that refugees who engage in terror are mocking the German government. According to information received by DEBKAfile's intelligence sources, the terrorist who blew himself up in the city of Anscach on Sunday had been identified by German intelligence organizations as the head of a special terror unit of the Nusra Front. He had received asylum and medical treatment in Germany after being wounded in Syria.
Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
