Orly attacker Muslim extremist known to French authorities

French security officials have identified as a known Muslim extremist the man who Saturday grabbed a gun from an Orly airport security guard near the check-in desk for Tel Aviv. They say he later shot himself dead. They also identity him as the same shooter who earlier injured a French soldier when he was challenged at a road check north of Paris, 30km away. After the first attack, he fled in a Clio, switched cars to a second vehicle and drove to Orly. This finding supports the French police in their assumption that the shooter was not acting alone but part of a terrorist conspiracy.
Orly airport is meanwhile under terror alert. Air flights are indefinitely suspended and the terminal evacuated as police comb through the large area for explosives
