(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. March 15, 2017, 8:31 PM (IDT)

The US Justice Department announced Wednesday afternoon that it had filed indictments against two members of Russia's FSB intelligence service as well as two other Russians for hacking into the e-mail servers of Yahoo. The four people indicted are Dmitry Dokuchaev and Igor Sushkin, two intelligence officers based at FSB headquarters in Moscow, and Aleksey Belan and Karim Baratov, two professional hackers working as operatives for Russian intelligence. Baratov, a Canadian citizen, is currently under arrest and will soon be extradited to the US. The other three, however, remain in Russia and will be tried in absentia. Yahoo announced in 2016 that the personal data of 1.5 billion users had been stolen as a result of two separate cyberattacks in 2013 and 2014.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
