US Senate panel: No proof that Trump Tower was placed under surveillance

The US Senate's intelligence committee issued a statement on Thursday signed by its chairman and vice chairman saying that the Obama administration did not order the wiretapping of Trump Tower during the presidential election campaign. “Based on the information available to us, we see no indications that Trump Tower was the subject of surveillance by any element of the United States government either before or after Election Day 2016,” the statement by Chairman Richard Burr and Vice Chairman Mark Warner said. However, DEBKAfile's intelligence and technology sources point out that the statement does not mention the possibility that Trump's cellular phone calls, text messages, social media activities or e-mail were monitored. In a series of recent Twitter posts, President Trump accused his predecessor of ordering surveillance of his telephone calls, saying “How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
