Red forest in Gunma ? 40% of street trees withering, infected by fungi, roots are rotten

35 of the 87 zelkova trees along the street from Maebashi station to national road 50 are withering. (40%)
It was confirmed in October.2011, the current state is not announced. These trees were planted in 1967.
5 of them may fall down. 3 of the 5 have inside empty or stand dead. They are infected by fomitella fraxinea, some of them have their roots rotten.

Average life span of zelkova is over 300 years.

35 des 87 Zelkovas du Caucase (Zelkova carpinifolia) des rues entre la gare de Maebashi jusqu’à la route nationale 50 sont en train de mourir. (40%)

L’espérance de vie d’un Zelkova est supérieure à 300 ans.
