Tepco admitted most part of fuel melted out of reactor pressure vessel in Reactor 3

On 8/6/2014, Tepco announced they assume “most part” of fuel melted out of reactor pressure vessel in Reactor 3.

This is their latest result of existing data analysis.

From their assumption, the emergency coolant system was stopped at 20:00 of 3/12/2011 before the workers switched to pump cooling manually.

As a result, fuel started melting down early in the next morning, when was 5 hours earlier than previous assumption.

The analysis says the molten fuel started breaking out of reactor pressure vessel by 7:00 of 3/14/2011. Most part of it dropped to the bottom of primary containment vessel.

However Tepco still doesn’t announce the possibility that the molten fuel even melted out of the primary containment vessel to the environment.
