60% of surveyed area in 2013 had land subsidence in Chiba prefecture.
It was 2040 km2, which is nearly as double as 2012.
Chiba prefectural government states the land subsidence of 2012 can be due to the effect of 311, however the connection is not clear between the increased subsidence of 2013 and 311. The cause has not been identified.
The largest subsidence was 2.41cm. The second largest one was 1.86 ~ 1.95cm.
The largest subsidence of past 5 years is seen in the geographically central area of Chiba prefecture, where is in a distance from the coastal area.
