Prostitutes and Pickpockets, they have their own industries "Grand Slam": Super-Bowl, March Madness, Olympics, World Cup. Corporate Headquarters: Las Vegas with branches world wide.
Pro Looters have a harder time making a living as they have no "set" dates. They have to go to where the work is and the hours can be long and dirty. Obviously there is skill involved, but unlike pickpockets, looting can be learned quickly with innate sleuth like technique acquisition. Like some gays coming out of the closet, some looters didn't even know they possessed that "trait" until later in life or when suddenly presented with the opportunity to unlock or "come out of the closet" their looting seed of desire blossoms. Riots in general bring or brought out the “latent” looter in most people. Similar to Marijuana leading to more serious drug intake, riots are the root of most "professional" looters. They honed their trade at Walmart and neighborhood liquor stores during riots in their immediate environments. The "Rodney King" type incited public outcries allow the looters with the impetus to "come out of the closet" sort of to speak. L.A. and Detroit riots werl shown world wide. Latent looters didn't wake up and watch the TV and say, GEE-WIZZ, I got to get down there before the inventory is gone. At first some latent looters gasp with outrage seeing their own neighborhoods ransacked by looter ready pro's. Then as they watch the police stand around, see neighbor Betty being interviewed by local TV with a shopping cart full of ToysRus's best, without receipts, walking out of the store. The appalled courageousness turns into a "game show mentality" of 'THAT COULD BE ME', a dreamingly vision that I could use a new hair dryer or a case of Johnny Walker and my kids could use a couple of new i-pods or 10 (big family).
As the TV looting footage rolls out the multitudes of new fraternities of looters are emerging, mom's even find out with this this new career move, however brief, allows her children to accompany them and help carry the "LOOT", that their 5 minutes of fame or fortune is slipping away if they don't get their "head on straight" and get straight on down to the nearest warehouse of FREE GOODIES being liquidated without advertising such available "LUCK".
But local riots don't happen enough to support a family, so their new "found" wealth is enjoyed only until the last bottle of JohnnyW is consumed, so they "bottle" up their looters mindset until another local venue comes to town at some unknown date, and go back to their mundane existence again, working for a living or for many, waiting in line for legal/illegal free handouts at the country/city/state/federal subsistence pay stations. (I doubt that most looters claim their “loot” as earned income on welfare forms).
Now we have the new “looter” youth having other career choices to make: sell dope, gang banging, burglary, armed robbery, etc., or go on the road? Now what is an ordinary venue to a prostitute or pickpocket to a Super Bowl type venue compared to a looter and a local riot? Right, catastrophe, none of this burn and go, no way, the Super Bowl for looters is MASS HYSTERIA, chaos, destruction. Super Bowl XXVI = Katrina, 1998 Olympics= Mitch, 2010 March Madness=Indonesia/Chili and now the looter's World Cup 2011=JAPAN. Not all that tsunami produced merchandise goes to Davey's Locker, but into David's Locker or David's garage. In Japan it's Davidmoto's Locker or garage, Dannymata's Pawn Broker's warehouse, Louisata's Used Parts Depot. "If you are out of it, we got it, full inventory, a Tsunami Special for you, only for a small fee you take. We no sell Brackish (ho-ho) water, I mean Black Market water, direct from non secured tent where donations are stored. You thirsty, you want to buy sample"?
Just as prostitutes go by other names like Hookers, Ladies of the Night, Escorts, Head Calmers, etc., looters are also known as Oil executives, Bankers and Politicians or "Looters in Ties". And finding the right market to exploit their "merchant of chaos" mentality, looters and their synonym brotherhood looks for either chaos or must cause it to make the "BIG BUCKS".
Becoming a FEMA member can be a 2nd Tier looters ticket to advancement to the above higher ranking pecking order of higher branches of Looting, see: Banking, Oil, Politicians, Big Business or entry level (rookie) "Government Official".
The video I enclosed brings disparaging emotions and wakes up the human spirit of compassion and grieving hearts and love go out to the victims of natural catastrophe's like the Japan Earthquake and following tsunami from MOST all human beings. But there are OTHERS that make their "livelihood" on such catastrophic events. And I do not just mean the stealth street looters that take floating TV's from flooded stores or jump into 5th floor evacuated hotel rooms looking for left overs, but the whole Industry of Looters Anonymous (IoLA).
Making sure that relief supplies and funds get to their intended recipients, that the bureaucratic red-tape doesn't prevent these needed items from being stored in some well "paid" warehouse where they don't get distributed in a timely matter or distributed at all is a task that hasn't been invented yet, as Looter Anonymous has made it impossible. Billions of dollars of aide to Katrina/Haitian/Indonesian victims either never got to their target or the upper scaled "looters" took the money and redirected it into their own pockets disguised as a type of "FEMA" approved subcontractor. Free gallons of water cost $5 to distribute from these emergency caretakers. Like the Pentagon approving $125+ toilet seats or $8+ Halliburton “power bars” 'for the troops' by the millions. Money and compassion needs to get to the victims and many times (most of the time) don't without an added “fee” attached.
Just remember that some "looters" are sitting in slum apartments and SOME are sitting on plush rugs on marble floors, sitting on/in teak and walnut paneled walled and furnitured mansion/offices, and their power is only a telephone and pen. They are watching the same TV programs showing how the world can turn on itself in the matter of seconds(natural OR man made). The “Merchants of Chaos” makes decisions made in their best interests; money and greed; getting something for nothing is in the corporate/fraternity(IoLA) charters.
