Bob Hoskins is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, his agent said Wednesday in a statement. The 69-year-old British actor, who starred in films including “Mona Lisa” and most recently “Snow White & the Huntsman,” was diagnosed last autumn, according to the statement. “He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career,” the statement read. Born in Suffolk, England, in 1942, Hoskins has had a career in show business that has spanned four decades. He rose to fame after his turn playing a private detective in the combination live action-and-animation film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” for which he earned Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder for which there is no cure. Other notable persons afflicted by the disease include actor Michael J. Fox and boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
