The final steps before Thursday's week-long Party Congress have been made. State-run media reports today that leader-in-waiting Xi Jinping has officially been announced as the Secretary-General of the 18th Party Congress. The agenda for the Congress has also been set. It will hear a report by the 17th Party Central Committee. It's also meant to elect the members of the 18th Central Committee, which will set the direction of the communist regime over the next five years. In reality though, what will happen during the Congress has already been decided. Xi Jinping and the new line-up of leaders are expected to be announced on Thursday November 14th, the last day of the congress.
