Volunteers help to free stranded whales in Australia. Full Story: On Tuesday, four whales were set free that had stranded themselves on a beach in Busselton, Western Australia. Local media said two of the whales managed to free themselves, but the other two had to be freed by volunteer rescuers. In order to free them, the pair were strapped in a sling, tied to a boat and taken out to sea. Quoting the rescuers, local media, said the two whales did not appear to be visibly distressed. No one knows why the whales beached themselves but beached whales are not an uncommon sight in Western Australia.
