The subject of the Scottish independence reference is hotting up in advance of the vote in September and emotions are high both sides of Hadrian’s Wall. But I haven’t seen anybody in central government in England say what really needs to be said so I’m going to say it instead.

Hey Pix, maybe that’s the answer: an alternative referendum. But really this is just what I mean about it being such an emotive issue. I’m made up of Irish and Scottish ancestry myself but I love the Union as it is and I don’t want Scotland to go. Nothing to do with cash generation and of course Scotland won’t disappear – I just like what we already are as a Union.

Do you think that Scotland will cease to exist physically if they stop being Englands oil producing cash cow?
Personally think Scotland shouldn’t be voting to leave the UK, the UK should have a vote on booting out England from the Union instead.
