Bournemouth striker Glenn Murray says he is still adapting to his new side’s style of play after scoring his first goal for the club against Watford.

Murray headed the Cherries in front on Saturday, but also saw his 85th-minute penalty saved in

the 1-1 draw.

The 32-year-old is hoping for a run of starts up front in the absence of injured striker Callum Wilson.

“We build attacks slower, we keep the ball for longer. I’m adapting slowly but surely,” he told

BBC Radio Solent.

Murray, a £4m transfer deadline day arrival

from Crystal Palace,

scored 47 goals in 125 appearances for the Eagles and said he was keen to replicate that form with the Cherries.

“It’s taken me a while to understand the way we play. It’s different to my previous club,” he added. “We’re a more counter-attacking team than Crystal Palace.”

The former Brighton striker saw a late penalty saved by Heurelho Gomes on his first start.

“I’d rather walk off the park with two goals instead of one,” he said. “But on the positive note, it’s nice to get my goalscoring for Bournemouth off to a start.”
