According to reports, Israeli aircraft carried out an airstrike near the Damascus Airport at 6pm local time Wednesday. Media outlets associated with Syrian President Bashar Assad confirmed the airstrikes, as Israel’s channel 2 and the Iranian press have also reported. A military correspondent for channel 2 stated, “Israel has made it clear it would not allow the transfer of weapons from Iran, via Damascus, to Hezbollah in Lebanon.”
According to unconfirmed reports by opposition groups, the target was a weapons shipment intended for Hezbollah.
Israeli authorities, neither confirmed nor denied the airstrikes.
