Former QPR youth goalkeeper Tommaso Trani has died following a short illness, the club has confirmed.

Trani, 21, was on the books at Loftus Road from 2011 to 2013 after moving from the youth set-up at AC Milan, but returned to Italy upon his release.

Interim first team head coach Neil Warnock described Trani’s death as “absolutely tragic news” and

paid tribute

to “a lovely, lovely lad”.

He added: “It opens everybody’s eyes to the fact that football is only a game.”
