Netanyahu’s Office Unintentionally Encourages Ministers To Continue Calling
For Him To Drop Palestinian State
Dr. Aaron Lerner 11 February 2017
Tal Shilo of Walla News reports tonight that “a source in the Prime
Minister’s office says “remarks of the ministers about the meeting with
Trump may undermine it.”

Since the remarks of ministers being referred to are calls for Prime
Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to oppose the creation of a sovereign
Palestinian state and to embark on a policy accordingly, the remark from Mr.
Netanyahu’s office can be expected to have the opposite effect.
After all, if Mr. Netanyahu is planning to drop the two sovereign state
solution at his meeting with Trump the remarks of the ministers against a
Palestinian state would only serve to help the meeting.
On the other hand, if Binyamin Netanyahu is planning on continuing his two
sovereign state solution line with Mr. Trump, the ministers are duty bound
to do whatever they can in order to undermine the meeting.
As for the argument that Israel needs to “sacrifice” on the Palestinian
issue so that the meeting may focus on the existential Iranian threat,
observers note that Mr. Trump is already not only convinced that Iran is a
top problem – he is well on his way to confrontation.
