The United State Central Command uploaded video footage of an airstrike attack against an electronic warfare garrison in Syria. The fortress, reportedly under the control of Islamic State terrorists, is located near Ar Raqqah and was decimated as part of the ongoing Operation Inherent Resolve late last month.
This video is one of numerous scenes uploaded to the agency’s YouTube account as American forces combat the growing influence of Islamic State – also known as ISIS or ISIL – in Iraq, Syria, and beyond.
A press release issued this week indicates seven airstrikes using fighter and bomber jets were conducted by U.S. military forces between Monday and Wednesday. Another 13 using “fighter, attack, and remotely-piloted aircraft against the ISIL terrorists” were conducted during the same period by U.S. and allied forces.
In addition to the U.S., several other nations have participated in the coalition effort to “eliminate the ISIL terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq, the region and the wider international community,” the press release confirmed.
In Iraq, U.S. forces are aided by Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Coalition Nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates in addition to the U.S.
