That’s Corey Hosford. He’s a professional driver in the Formula Drift series. He also has a creepy mustache, and he and his chief mechanic and manager, Dustin Millard, are very silly people that showed up at our house in recently-purchased thrift store leisure suits. Expected? No. But when someone chooses to live in Arizona, what can you expect?
Corey started racing in karts as a kid, and never quit. When he’s not on the Formula D tour, he’s teaching people how to be better drivers at Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. He’s the guy that taught Matt how to do drift.
Luckily the final event of Formula D was at Irwindale Speedway, and since Corey was in the neighborhood, he stopped by for a podcast. We talked about how bad an idea it is to take a Veyron to the track, how to build a drift car, getting started in motorsport, why he chose drifting, why V-8s, and how the drivers in his sport shouldn’t be looked at with any less respect than the people in GT or SCCA. And Matt and I give a fast run-down of our 2 days testing 26 cars at the MPG Track Day (which you can read more about here). Make the jump for the download links.
